Tariffs, inflation, and monetary policy: Analysing the impact on multi-asset class portfolios

Wednesday 23 April 2025 | 13:00 - 14:00 | Webinar

As the US share prices tumble amid fears of the widespread imposition of tariffs and its potential damage to an already shaky global economy, bond markets are experiencing significant volatility.

Resurging inflationary pressures, increased fiscal spending, and flight-to-safety flows are creating a complex landscape. European currencies and the Yen have benefitted as foreign investors pull their funds out of the United States, while potential rate cuts from the Federal Reserve could further weaken the dollar.

Even if the Fed prioritises controlling consumer prices over supporting a cooling labour market, the American stock market may still face challenges.
