This is an in-person networking and knowledge sharing opportunity organised by CFA UK’s Manager Research special interest Group

Join us to dive into the career of a Fund Researcher. In this panel event we’ll discuss how the role has changed over time, recent and historical challenges, opportunities in the field and the potential impact on the investment world.

This event will help you to engage with fund research industry peers and learn from those in different sectors and at early to later stages of their career.

This session will allow you to be inspired about the future of the fund research world and the impact we can have as a collective fund selector.

Speakers

Alan Sippetts, Experienced Investment Director, Non-exec Director and Advisor

Alan Sippetts provides investment research, strategy, governance and oversight to funds, managers and advisors. Current roles include principal investment manager at Eden Park IM and iNED at Close Asset Management, a subsidiary of Close Brothers plc. Alan also sits on several investment committees.

Alan's past roles include chairing LSE-listed property specialist Alternative Income REIT plc, Head of Research at Heartwood-Handelsbanken & Lloyds Private Bank, and Head of UK Smaller Companies at Legal & General IM.

Alan holds BSc management sciences-economics from Lancaster University, where today he is a teaching fellow at the Management School. He is a fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment.

Josh Palmer, Multi-Asset Sustainability Specialist, WTW

Josh Palmer is a Multi-Asset Sustainability Specialist working across the Portfolio Management and Manager Research team. His primary aim is improving the sustainability performance of delegated and broader client portfolios and evolving the framework used to assess external managers in this area.

He joined WTW in August 2013 as a Manager Researcher focusing on hedge fund and fixed income strategies. He has previously led the Emerging Market Debt research team and the Discretionary Macro research team. He currently leads the Manager Research Sustainable Investment Working Group.

Nadia Salih, Senior Due Diligence Analyst, Kedge Capital

Nadia is responsible for operational and legal due diligence on existing and potential managers at Kedge Capital.

Prior to joining Kedge in October 2018, Nadia worked for Cardano, a fiduciary manager for defined benefit pension schemes where she was responsible for operational due diligence on a range of investment funds in clients' portfolios.

Earlier in her career, Nadia worked for GSA Capital, a global hedge fund where her responsibilities included fund accounting and operations.

Nadia is a CFA charterholder and graduated from the University of Westminster with a degree in business management and financial services

Sahil Arora, Investment Analyst, London CIV

Sahil Arora is an  Investment Analyst on the private markets investment team at the London CIV, who are responsible for pooling London LGPS assets, focusing mainly on infrastructure. Prior to the London CIV, Sahil was part of MJ Hudson’s graduate rotation programme, example rotations include investment advisory and ESG.

 Sahil graduated from the University of Nottingham in 2020 after completing a Masters degree, MSc finance and investment, and an undergraduate degree, BSc (Hons) economics. More recently, he passed the CFA Level 1 in November 2022, placing in the 90th percentile.
