The CFA Society of the UK (CFA UK) is pleased to announce the appointment of Nick Bartlett, CFA, ASIP as Chief Executive of the society from April 2025. Nick will succeed Will Goodhart, who will step down as Chief Executive in March after 18 years in the role. Nick joins CFA UK from CFA Institute, where he is currently Senior Head of Learning Content and Innovation. He joined CFA Institute in 2018 having spent the previous six years as Director of Education at CFA UK. He joined the investment profession in 1995, working first in Schroders’ global business development team before moving into learning and development roles at BPP and then Aviva Investors.

As well as being a CFA charterholder and an ASIP – having passed the Associate exams of the IIMR (one of the founding bodies of CFA UK) – Nick also holds the Investment Management Certificate and the Fundamentals of Sustainability Accounting (FSA) Credential. Additionally, he is a past chair of the CPD Forum, a network for association staff working in professional learning. He holds a Master’s degree in educational psychology.

Says Hilary Eastman, CFA, chair of CFA UK’s Board: “We are delighted to appoint Nick as the society’s next Chief Executive. Nick’s understanding of investment professionals’ needs for skills and knowledge – and of the best tools and techniques for delivering those – make him well-positioned to build on the society’s success. His recent experience will also help us to work even more closely with CFA Institute in meeting individuals’ current and future needs. It is also great to welcome Nick back to the society. He is immensely respected by our volunteers and members and he has played a vital role in developing our recent certificates and cementing the IMC’s position as the leading entry-level qualification for the sector.”

Comments Nick Bartlett, CFA, ASIP: “I am thrilled to become the next Chief Executive of CFA UK. The society has a deep history and has made significant strides in recent years to develop professional learning and investment qualifications that meet the needs of the profession. I look forward to building on this platform and working with the board and members of CFA UK to achieve the society’s mission of educating, connecting and inspiring the investment industry as the sector continues to evolve.”

Notes CFA UK’s Eastman: “The Board is grateful to the working group of current and former Board members that contributed to the search process, and to the team at Sapphire Partners, who provided excellent and advice and support throughout. We particularly appreciate the many applications that we received from an incredibly strong set of candidates – both members and non-members. That made our job very difficult, but allowed us to run a suitably rigorous and demanding process”.
