CFA UK is partnering with Content With Purpose (CWP) to produce a wide-ranging digital series exploring the fundamental role of investment professionals in unlocking solutions to climate change, driving a low-carbon economy and a prosperous future for all.
The investment industry has the potential to shape market dynamics and drive transformative change for the green economy, whilst enhancing long-term returns. Through capital allocations, stewardship and collaboration, investors can leverage their capital to advance sustainable business models, renewable energy projects, and climate-aligned technologies; accelerating the transition to net zero and creating positive feedback loops that stimulate further sustainable investments in areas such as nature and biodiversity.
Through a range of expert interviews, short films and streamed roundtables, ‘Investing for Tomorrow’s Environment’ will explore the urgent need to integrate climate change and natural capital considerations into investment decision-making, meeting inspiring organisations and individuals who are leading the way.
The digital series will champion progress in areas such as transition finance and green finance, impact investing, green and climate bonds, investing in nature, sustainability data and reporting, systems thinking, and policy and regulation. It will showcase excellence and innovation in skills and knowledge, tools and techniques, whilst promoting collaboration and raising awareness.
‘Investing for Tomorrow’s Environment’ will launch in May 2024 at the CFA UK Annual Sustainable Investing Conference. It will then be promoted through an extensive digital marketing and communications campaign, with tailored content for specific audiences including CFA UK members, the wider financial services sector, policymakers, and the general public.
Says Will Goodhart, Chief Executive of CFA UK: “This is a time of immense change. We’re on the cusp of a fourth industrial revolution based around the transition to new energy systems, and while sustainable investing is gaining momentum, it is critical that we now establish sustainability criteria as central to investment decision-making. We are delighted to be embarking on this journey with CWP to support our work in educating and empowering investment professionals to apply a climate lens to all aspects of the investment process and understand this fundamental driver of risk and return.”
Adds Max Smith, Founder & Managing Director, CWP: “As we navigate the climate crisis, sustainable investment is becoming mainstream, and this is a vital step in ensuring a viable future for all. But is the industry doing enough to push this to the forefront? What steps are needed to prioritise sustainability? And are investors fully aware of the opportunities that are emerging from the climate transition and nature? This is a topic we’re excited to explore in ‘Investing for Tomorrow’s Environment’, and we look forward to meeting those who are pioneering progress.”
