You can find answers to some commonly asked questions regarding renewing your CFA UK membership below.

FAQs have been split into FAQs for Local Members and FAQs for Regular and Affiliate members due to the different routes to renew these categories of membership.

    How do I renew?

    Local members can renew their membership through the CFA UK Portal. Simply follow the steps below. 
    Steps to renew:

    • Login to your CFA UK Portal account
    • Go to My Membership
    • Click Renew Membership
    • Complete the renewal application
    • Enter your payment information
    • You will receive an automated confirmation email including receipt

    How do I log in?

    Click Login in the navigation bar on the CFA UK website.

     

    I’m trying to log in to the CFA UK Portal but am being told my email address isn’t recognised. What should I do?

    The email address will be the one you registered your CFA UK account with.

    Have you registered for your account? The CFA UK Portal launched in March 2021 and members are required to register first, before logging on to the Portal.

    If you are still struggling to access your CFA UK Portal account, please contact us by emailing support@cfauk.org or by calling 0207 648 6200 and selecting option 2 to reach the membership team.

     

    I have signed up to the CFA UK website but my membership record isn't appearing, what do I do next?

    Did you register with the email address linked to your membership record?

    Regular and Affiliate members with CFA Institute should register with the same email address as the one you use to access your CFA Institute account. 

    Local members (previously IMC, Companion, CFA Candidate members) should register with the same email address that CFA UK email communications are sent to. 

    Email us at support@cfauk.org with the email address you registered on the CFA UK website with.

    For security reasons please also provide two of the following pieces of information: Full name, Date of Birth, First line of address and postcode and a staff member will investigate and get back to you. Alternatively, you can call 0207 648 6200 and select option 2 to reach the membership team.

     

    My account is locked, what do I do next? 

    Drop us an email at support@cfauk.org with the email address of the locked account and we will be able to assist you. We will endeavour to resolve your enquiry within one business day, however if additional security checks are required it may take a little longer.

     

    Where can I find my CFA UK ID/membership number?

    Your CFA UK ID is your CFA UK membership number and allows you to access events at the member discounted rate. It also will help to identify you in future correspondence. 

    • Login to the CFA UK Portal
    • Click your initials in the top right-hand corner of the screen to view your account
    • Click My Membership in the left-hand menu
    • You’ll be able to see your active membership and your CFA UK ID which is your membership number

    Current members will see that your membership number has got a little longer and is now 9 digits. This is your prior 5-digit member number preceded with “UK00”. 

    How much does membership cost for the period 1 July 2024 to 30 June 2025?

    Local membership costs £140 and your membership will be valid until 30 June 2025. Due to inflation this is a £5 increase on the fee for the membership year ending 30 June 2024. As a not-for-profit organisation we will continue to ensure membership provides value. 
     

    Is VAT charged on membership renewals?

    No VAT is charged on CFA UK membership.

    Can I claim back tax on my membership dues?

    The CFA UK membership fee for the membership year ended 30 June 2024 was £135 which can be used as a tax deduction in a UK income tax return, in line with HMRC guidance.

    How do I renew?

    If you are a Regular or Affiliate member you must renew your CFA UK membership via your CFA Institute account.

    • Login to your CFA Institute account
    • File your Professional Conduct Statement
    • Pay your CFA Institute and CFA UK dues

    Renewing your CFA UK membership  give you boundless opportunities for professional advancement, knowledge sharing and connecting with like-minded professionals in the industry.

    Do you offer reduced rates of membership?

    In recognition of the continued impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, CFA Institute has continued to waive the five-year membership requirement of the professional leave policy. Therefore, Regular and Affiliate members not currently working full time in the industry as a result of the pandemic are eligible for the reduced membership fees of $187.50.

    You can request professional leave when you renew via your CFA Institute account.

    Can I claim back tax on my membership dues?

    The CFA UK membership fee is on the list of HMRC approved professional organisations which enables members to claim tax relief on the fee they pay, via their UK tax return, in line with HMRC guidance

    The Regular and Affiliate CFA UK membership fee was £135 for the membership year ended 30 June 2024, which was translated into a fee of $165 US dollars for collection by CFA Institute on behalf of CFA UK.
